Description: Discovery offers classic cruise style with spacious public areas, abundant open deck spaces and promenades of the traditional trans-Atlantic passenger liners.
She is an ideal holiday cruise ship with excellent facilities but no nightclubs, casinos, climbing wall or noisy theme nights. On board are two pools, two Jacuzzis, four lounges, two restaurants, a library, a card room, a lecture theatre and cinema, a gymnasium and a health centre.
The ship’s small size means no crowding and plenty of space to relax. She is reputed for taking discerning passengers on holidays known for their charm, fascinating destinations and eloquent guest speakers.
Discovery has an interesting past, having starred in 1970s sitcom The Love Boat. At the time, Discovery was called Island Princess and played second lead to her sister ship Pacific Princess.
She was later sold to South Korea and carried pilgrims to religious sites in North Korea. Since 2003 she has been sailing as Discovery for cruise company Voyages of Discovery and from 2011 has been based at Portsmouth International Port.
