Q1. What car parking facilities does the port provide?
A1. A £2.5 million multi-storey car park at Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port provides 516 passenger parking spaces just metres from the main ferry terminal. Open 24 hours a day, the four-storey car park is well lit, and incorporates the latest automated car parking technology and security.
The Port has parking spaces for people with disabilities and/or reduced mobility inside and outside the multi-storey car park as well as additional bays adjacent to the main terminal building. Facilities are also in place to help those with reduced mobility travel from the car park to the ship and back. If you require assistance getting through the Port please advise the ferry company when booking or a member of staff when checking in.

Q3. How do I book my tickets?
A3. It is advisable to book in advance, in which case you receive a ticket voucher by post. For added comfort pay extra and reserve a suite, cabin accommodation or travel Club Class. Bookings are made through the ferry companies. It is sometimes possible to buy tickets on the day of travel depending on availability. All ferry companies have ticket offices in the main concourse - however all tickets must be purchased at least 45 minutes before the published sailing time.

Q4. When must I check in?
A4. The last check in times for passengers are:
Brittany Ferries - 45 minutes before sailing
Condor Ferries - One hour before sailing
LD Lines - 45 minutes before sailing
P&O Ferries - 45 mins before sailing
Wightlink - 30 minutes before sailing
Q5. Are there any public transport links between the Port and the city centre?
A5. Regular buses run to Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea train stations during the main summer season. There is a taxi rank outside the main terminal and you can call a cab from the free phone inside the building.
Q6. Is there a bus shuttle service from the Port to the local train stations?
A6. There is currently only a shuttle bus running in conjunction with 'The Pride of Bilbao'. The buses run between 7am and 8 am, 1.15pm and 3pm and 5.30pm and 10pm. The buses run until September 12th. Please call Bailey's Buses on 07721 877722 for further information.
Q7. Can I get foreign currency at the Port?
A7. Intercash is open in the Travel Centre from 0600 to 2330 hrs daily. Travelex also operates a bureau de change in the main terminal and the ferry companies offer a change service both in the Port and on board their ships. ATM (Cash point) facilities are available in the main terminal. Remember, you don’t need foreign currency if you are travelling to the Channel Islands.

Q8. Are there any special offers for Eurail or Interrail pass holders?
A8. The ferry companies frequently run special offers on trips to France, Spain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight. However no discounts currently exist for those with Eurail or Interail passes. Keep abreast of the latest deals by reading our Reporter newsletter or telephone the ferry companies direct.
Q9. Does the Port operate any baggage transport from terminal to ship?
A9. Once you have cleared security, where your luggage is scanned, you have the option to store your bags in the baggage trolleys, which will then be transferred to the ship (please note Brittany Ferries does not offer this service). Remember to pack items for the passage in your hand luggage. Shuttle buses operate to take passengers and their hand luggage to the ship.
Q10. Is it possible to arrive the night before an early crossing and camp out at the Port?
A10. The Port does allow passengers to stay overnight if they wish to board an early morning ferry. However overnight camping/sleeping in the terminal building is not permitted as the building is closed between midnight and 0530 hrs for cleaning purposes. Passengers wishing to stay with their vehicle overnight are required to arrive after 2200 hrs and must park in one of the far lanes of the Passenger Car Waiting Area as indicated on our map.
Q11. What facilities are at the Port for people with special needs?
A11. If you require assistance getting through the Port please advise the ferry company when booking or a member of staff when checking in.
There are toilet facilities for people with disabilities throughout the Port. A special mini-bus service is available to help wheel chair users or those experiencing reduced mobility and their companions to board the ship. Assistance is also available for those travelling by car enabling parking on the car decks close to the lifts.
The Port has parking spaces for people with disabilities and/or reduced mobility inside and outside the multi-storey car park, as well as additional bays adjacent to the main terminal building. However, to ensure your requirements can be accommodated it is important to request these in advance at the time of booking.
Q12. Can pets be taken through the Port?
A12. Since February 2000, dogs and cats that have been vaccinated against rabies and meet other health requirements can travel through the Port without going into quarantine, under the Pets Passports scheme. Visit www.defra.gov.uk for more information.
Q13. Is there a Left Luggage facility at the Port and how much does it cost?
A13. Yes. It is situated behind the port security desk in the main terminal building. Left Luggage is charged at £3 per item, available from 0600-2330 hours (no overnight facility). No electronic equipment can be accepted.
