Permit to Work System

Portsmouth Commercial Port operates a Permit to Work system, which is designed to give the Port, as a landlord, maximum control over work undertaken by third party contractors within the Port boundaries. The system allows a contractor to be fully aware of the inherent dangers of working in the Port and provides useful contact and emergency information.

Port users are to ensure that any contractors they invite onto the Port, who are carrying out work within the Port boundary, forward a Risk Assessment and Method Statement to the Port prior to their arrival. Failure to do so will result in delays and possible refusal of entry into the Port.

An improved and more robust Permit to Work system is now in operation. The revised procedures have been communicated to regular Port users. An outline of the new procedures and implications for Port users has been attached.

The following links opens up documentation that you will need to view before you are able to undertake any work here at the Port.
