APCOA receive the Park Mark Award from the Safer Parking Scheme for the fourth year in a row.
30 January 2008: Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port's multi-story car park, operated by APCOA, has received the Park Mark Award from the Safer Parking Scheme for the fourth year in a row.
Park Mark is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities. It is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police.
These requirements mean the parking operator has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour. Within the Port car park these measures include 22 CCTV cameras, both fixed and rotating. Emergency help buttons with direct phone links to the car park office, which is manned 24 hours a day. The car park is also constantly lit, with extra night lighting operated on a sensor system activated by car park users. Additionally the staircases leading to all floors have clear perspex sides, to ensure all levels are visible to those using the stairs.
Jim Griffiths, has been manager at the car park for the four years it has been receiving the Park Mark award; "We are very proud to have been awarded this certificate again, it is a reflection of the hard work we put in to ensure the Port car park is a safe and inviting place for customers. Holidaymakers can leave their cars here for anything from a day to two weeks, so having the Park Mark accreditation on display reassures them that not only will their car be safe but they and their family will be too."
Phil Gadd, Ferry Port Manager, said "The car park is an important element of the Port experience, and I am very pleased it has continued to meet Park Mark's high safety standards."
