Sea Cloud II sails into Portsmouth Port
Wed 3rd Jun 2009
Demonstrating the strength of Portsmouth Commercial Port’s cruise business during these tough economic times, Denholm’s impressive 5 star luxury tall ship, the Sea Cloud II will visit Portsmouth on 5th June 2009.
Portsmouth Commercial Port is hosting 22 cruise calls during the 2009 season, doubling the number of ships that visited in 2008. Currently on a European cruise commencing in Bilbao and finishing in Caen, the elegant Sea Cloud II, built on four decks and fitted with luxury rooms, restaurants and boutiques, aims to provide its 94 passengers with the best sailing experience possible. The ship, christened in February 2001, is sister to the Sea Cloud, which has been in service since her launch as a private yacht in 1931. Portsmouth Harbour Master Rupert Taylor comments: “Portsmouth offers many benefits as a cruise port; it has excellent access by road and rail, and the motorway network just outside the port gates can quickly deliver passengers to regional and national airports. With its convenient location on the South Coast Portsmouth is ideal for cruise ship tourists, and turnaround calls, allowing them to not only visit numerous attractions near the Port city but also enable quick entry and departure on their route to and from continental ports and the western Channel.” For more information on Portsmouth Port, please visit www.portsmouth-port.co.uk.
