Island Sky claims to be one of the finest small ships in the world, carrying only 116 passengers in unusually large suites. Public areas are luxurious and there are spacious outside decks, all refurbished during a multi-million pound refit in 2010. Nimble Zodiac craft make it possible to explore places inaccessible to larger ships, with landings in out-of-the-way coves and footloose trips ashore that would be impractical for larger groups. Peace, high quality service and attention to detail are the order of the day.
Operator Noble Caledonia says: ‘We promise there will be no organised entertainment, fancy dress, deck games or any of the usual big ship experiences. The atmosphere on board is more akin to a private yacht or country hotel. A little music in the lounge or bar after dinner, guest speakers, informative port briefings from our cruise director and of course good food.’
